OPTIONAL PREDICTED GRADE ASSESSMENT

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

 

If exams are cancelled, you are being offered to spread your predicted grade from SWSS over one or two assessments. The second is compulsory. The first is optional.

 

1. Online exam covering term 1 and 2.

2. IGCSE paper 1 and 2.

 

 

WHY SPREAD OVER TWO ASSESSMENTS?

You may complete the first assessment, obtain your grade and choose if you want it to be part of your final predicted grade.

 

COST

There is a £20 fee per exam (£45 for double science) to take the first assessment. Please purchase in the online shop. SWSS maintains low prices based on the fact I (Jo) do all the marking and support. Unfortunately, I can’t take on anymore and to offer this will need to outsource. A password will be emailed a week before the exam. You’ll need this to enter.

 

CAN ANYONE TAKE THE ASSESSMENT?

Yes. You do not need to be a Summer 2022 exam sitter, nor need a predicted grade. You can use this as an opportunity to practice real exam questions under controlled conditions. You must have completed term 1 and 2.

 

HOW WILL THE ASSESSMENT BE CARRIED OUT?

• An example test can be found in the assessment folder (see Summer 2022 exam sitters on your student dashboard). This is biology but illustrates the format to expect in all subjects. 

• The test will be 50 minutes. Double scientists will take three 35 minute tests. 5 minutes has been added to tests to account for any IT issues you may have.

• The test link will appear on screen 15 minutes before the start time. Do not open until the start time. The computer records how long you take on the test. Commencing before the start time could jeopardise your predicted grade. The test will automatically close at the end.

• If you want the mark to contribute to a predicted grade you must record yourself. A video camera (for example webcam) must be recording the sound in the room and the student taking the test for the full duration. The camera must be able to see the student’s full face.

• Only people permitted in your real exam should be present. The room must be silent (a dog bark is fine, but there should be no talking).

• Do not send the recording to SWSS. Store it and we will ask for it if exams are cancelled.

• Relax and know this does not have to contribute to your final grade if you don’t want it to.

 

I’M ENTITLED TO EXTRA TIME IN MY REAL EXAM

• It is your responsibility to know what you are entitled to. Your exam centre can tell you this.

• Please enter the exam that matches your additional time. There will be an exam for +10%, +25% and +50%. Let me know if your additional time is different. 

• If you are entitled to breaks you may use the +50% timed exam and take breaks accordingly.

• You cannot move off camera during breaks.

 

PROVISIONAL DATES & TIMES

 

On the day of the assessment.

1. Find the exam on your student dashboard. It is in the Summer 2022 exam sitters section.

2. The exam will appear 15 minutes before the start time. This gives you a chance to locate the password sent to you, be sure your camera and microphone are turned on and your environment is quiet.

3. Start your exam at the start time.

4. It will close automatically at the end time.

5. Your grade will be visible once a tutor has marked the test.

6. You can decide if you want it to contribute to a predicted grade. We will ask you if exams are cancelled.

 

STUDENTS WITH ADDITIONAL EXAM TIME MUST SELECT THE EXAM THAT CORRESPONDS WITH THIS FOR THE EXAM TO END AT THE CORRECT TIME.
