JAN 2022 EXAMS

Exam dates can be found here.

LET US KNOW YOU’RE INTENDING TO TAKE THE EXAM

It would be helpful if you could let me know you are taking the January exams. Click on the ‘January 2022 Exam Sitters’ tab on your student dashboard and complete the survey called ‘What are your plans?’

MARKED WORK

If you haven’t already, please hand in your end of year 1 exam and two practical tests. They provide an invaluable opportunity to practice past exam questions. Your final mock exam is available in the R07 folder. Aim to complete by the dates below to give time to act on feedback. If the mock is handed in later I will try to mark. Keep in mind if it's too late I might not have enough time and there reaches a point when feedback may become unhelpful too close to the exam.

WHERE SHOULD I BE IN THE COURSE?

Ideally the course (including practical tests in R01) should be complete by the beginning of November. To effectively prepare for exams aim for at least two months of past exam papers.

BEST PREPARATION

  • Read through each revision sheet. Create flash cards or your own notes from these if it helps. Have a guardian test you on the sheet. Make up questions from the sheet. Do whatever it takes to memorise the revision sheets. Level 8/9 students aim for memorising literally everything.

  • Complete the online assignment again for that revision sheet.

  • Complete any mini mocks for that lesson.

  • Take as many past papers as possible. Do not be put off if the paper is from the old syllabus. It is still extremely useful and Edexcel still recycle questions as far back as 2012.

  • The student should be marking their work using the mark scheme. The more past papers they complete the more they will spot trends and patterns in the mark schemes and exams themselves.

  • Level 8/9 students may find the following workbooks useful (biology, chemistry and physics). Double scientists will need all three. The books inform you of the questions you need to complete.

WHAT HAPPENS IF EXAMS ARE CANCELLED?

We will use your marked work (listed above) as evidence of course completion. If requested by the exam centre we can provide further pieces you’ve already completed. In addition, exam centres will require an invigilated exam which we will complete online as close to the original exam date as possible.
