WHERE WILL I TAKE THE EXAMS?

Autumn exam sitters will be taking the exam at the centre they were originally registered with. It may be possible to move to an alternative if you wish. Please contact exam centres to confirm this. It is extremely unlikely you will be able to sit autumn exams if you were not registered to sit summer 2020 exams.

For January and summer 2021 exams you may select an exam centre of your choice. Click here for an excellent guide to your local centres. This resource is developed by home educators. It’s worth ringing local private schools, colleges and state schools to see if they will accept you, even if they are not listed here. International schools are a good starting point for students that live abroad.

DO YOU RECOMMEND SPECIFIC EXAM CENTRES?

Given the possibility that exams may be cancelled we do recommend choosing one of our partner exam centres whenever possible. This gives you the best chance of securing a 'centre assessed grade' in the event exams are cancelled. Please find our partner centres here. Although you should always choose a centre that you can access easily for a real 'sit in' exam, you may be able to transfer in the event exams are cancelled. Fees may apply.

WHAT INFORMATION SHOULD I GIVE MY EXAM CENTRE?

Send them your subject’s information below. Students living outside the UK may need slightly different information. Please contact us with your country of residence if you need this.

HOW MUCH WILL THE EXAMS COST?

Edexcel charge schools (per qualification not per exam paper):

Biology, chemistry or physics      £46.80

Double Science                              £93.90

You will likely need to pay admin and invigilator fees on top of this. These will vary depending on the centre and usually ranges from an additional £20 - £150. Shop around.

DEADLINES

You must organise and pay exams by set deadlines. After this, you will be charged an extra fee or not allowed to take the exam. These are Edexcel deadlines (some are yet to be released). Your centre will probably set different fees and deadlines. Check with them.

THE EXAM DATES CLASH WITH ANOTHER EXAM I AM TAKING. WHAT DO I DO?

Talk to your centre. They should have procedures in place to deal with this.

I AM ENTITLED TO SPECIAL RIGHTS IN MY EXAM

Talk to exam centres early and ask for their advice. Just because you are entitled to support/certain changes does not mean you will get it. Some exam centres are not equipped to deal with anything outside the ‘norm’. It is worth shopping around for a centre that suits your needs. Once you have found your centre, practice working under your exam conditions. For example, it can take time to accustom yourself to answering questions through a scribe or draw diagrams on a computer.

WHAT HAPPENS IF EXAMS ARE CANCELLED AGAIN?

Firstly, don't panic.  It is extremely unlikely exams will be cancelled. If they are there are multiple scenarios that could result, none of which anyone has been told. The best preparation is to complete the course in full over 1-2 years (preferably in line with the timetable). Hand in work for marking as per the timetable and revise for an exam (whether that be a traditional exam or invigilated online).

Further information for current students can be found on your student dashboard (pre-coursework and timetable section).
